Spread all over the country the MSME Development Institutes are a network of field organizations of MSME-DO (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization) is under the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India and headed by Development Commissioner(MSME).

One of the full fledged MSMEs in the North East Region, MSME Development Institute, Imphal (Manipur) , is committed to the promotion of micro and small enterprises in the State of Manipur (click here to view the location of Manipur) since 1986. The Institute also serves the MSME"s of Nagaland state through its Branch MSME Development Institute, Dimapur (Nagaland). Both the Institute and its Branch have Common Facility Workshops attached to them offering common facility services in Machine shop, Carpentry and welding to micro and small enterprises.
